Meiloci were engaged by Helston Town Council to undertake the urban design framework for the town centre, identifying priority public realm regeneration schemes for the town. Following this, funding was secured to deliver the first phase of the project looking at improvements to the public realm surrounding the historic monument to Humphry Millet Grylls. Like a real-life Ross Poldark, Grylls was widely applauded for saving Wheal Vor mine and the jobs of hundreds of families.
The area around the Monument was cleared, and an old toilet block relocated and the re-surfaced Monument Walk created around the bowling green. Quality granite from the local quarry was used to enhance the heritage context of the site.
